If you have been injured in an accident on the job you are probably confused about what you should do, how you are going to pay your bills and who's going to pay for the medical bills and expenses. This video provides you with three important steps to follow after a work related accident.  These three steps will help an injured worker in Massachusetts begin to document and establish their accident and injury to help get the benefits he or she deserves and also avoid any delays in getting those benefits.

No. 1:  Get Medical Attention Right Away.

If you are involved and hurt in a work related accident, regardless of whether you think your injury is serious or minor, you should seek medical attention right away. This is very important for several reasons. First, if you are hurt, you should see a doctor or medical professional in order to get the medical help you need. Secondly, seeing a doctor will document the fact that you have been injured on the job. This will come in handy down the road in the event your injury is more serious than you initially thought and you need to seek workers' compensation benefits. The fact that the medical records indicate that you were involved and hurt in an accident at work will help support your claim for compensation if the insurer denies or contests your claim

No. 2:  Report Your Work Injury Immediately.

When you are hurt in a work related accident, you should report your accident and injuries immediatley or as soon as you can to your employer, supervisor or human resources department. Also, when you report your accident and injury, try to do so in writing and keep a copy of the report. This way, if your workers' compensation claim is denied or contested, the written report can be used as evidence to help prove you were hurt on the job.
